We decided to furnish our house slowly and made a deliberate decision not to rush into things and end up with ugly square and uncomfortable furniture. As a consequence we are missing some things, but on the whole we are satisfied with the way things have turned out, and indeed, people have said that they liked the way we are furnishing our house; so we must be doing something right.
One consequence is that we have picked up a few things from second hand and antique shops. Apart from the pink chest of drawers which graces our bedroom (and it looks a lot better than it sounds), the chairs and table are a curious unfinished grey colour redolent of stone, which for me is redolent of Narnia and all its talking animals fun.
Let me explain: one of the features of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is the Great Stone Table, and this always struck a cord in my mind of fantastical grandeur; so for the time being we are not renovating or otherwise repainting our grey things, but instead will live with the grandeur that is Narnian.
